Miami - Key Largo Sailing Adventure | 4 Days/3 Nights Sailing and more
Do you like to venture further and stay off the beaten path and out of your comfort zone? This is one option we have for you!
We will meet at the marina at 0900 to get underway. Dependent on weather conditions and forecast, tides, gulfstream strength and most importantly wind direction and speed, the Captain will decide if to stay on the bay or out on Hawk channel on the way down to Key Largo. If staying on the bay on Day 1, this would be our itinerary (more or less, as the beauty of sailing is to connect with Nature and take the best of what she dictates): We will stop for lunch along the way around 1300, probably by Elliot Key. After taking some time to relax and maybe a swim, snorkel or just take a nap on our ‘big crib’, we will resume our expedition, aiming to reach Pumpkin Key by 1800. We will unwind and prepare a nice dinner. We might even go to bed early. Alternatively, we might decide to keep on sailing down, propelled by our zero footprint engine.
Day 2: After a nice breakfast with freshly baked bread, scrambled eggs with chorizo and brewed coffee, we will leave the bay to head to some wonderful coral reefs. Carysfort, Christ of the Deep, Grecian Rocks are some of the options on the menu. We could paddleboard at some point along the way, or just relax, sunbathing on deck. Lunch will be served. In the late afternoon, we would head down to spend the night at a marina and go hit some cool dive bars, making a recount of the past two days with some nice drinks and cool live band.
Day 3: Breakfast at the marina (prepared by us) before or after some paddle boarding exploring the coastal surroundings. Then a nice shower and back up on the vessel for another day of sailing, snorkeling, relaxing and fun! We will have lunch at anchor or tied to a buoy over a reef. Around sunset, we will head North and anchor to spend the night at sea.
Day 4: On day 4 we will wake up, snorkel, have breakfast and continue North. There are some more reefs and shipwrecks along the way, so plenty of options to have fun above and below the surface. We will be back in Miami by 1800 (6PM).
If conditions dictate to go out of the bay on Day 1, this itinerary will be reversed.
Number of participants: Up to 4 guests
Here is the review we received recently, that makes a very nice recount of the trip:
Wow, what an adventure! It's been more than a week since we've been in the wonderful company of Captains Rodrigo and Cezary, and I still think about our 4-day, 3-night sailing trip on a daily basis. I had no idea what to expect; this was my first time on a sailboat for longer than a couple of hours. I was worried about tight quarters, getting sea sick, cold ocean water, what the food would be like...all things that turned out to be complete non-issues. Some trip highlights:Rodrigo is an amazing cook, and Cezary a gracious dishwasher! I'll never forget Rodrigo grilling flank stake on new year's eve for my brother's 40th birthday as Cezary expertly captained the sailboat through the gulf stream and luminescent neon green fish lit up in the waters around us as a huge orange moon rose on the horizon. Pure magic! We had chorizo scrambled eggs for breakfast, fondue and salmon for dinner, lots of snacks, fresh veggie salads for lunch, all the bevvies we wanted...it was a nice range of food that was both delicious and nutritious. The snorkeling spots they took us to were unreal. Christ of the Deep was very cool, but Carysfort was just incredible. We were so close to the reef and could see so many fish — plus a sea turtle, jellyfish, and even a shark! Neither were super crowded when we were there, and even in January, the water temps were perfect.Rod and Cez are expert captains. On our third day, there was an engine issue, but there was never any panic. We just needed to switch plans, and with hardly any wind at our disposal, they both expertly sailed us back to our destination on time, no motor needed. The boat was more spacious than I anticipated. My husband and brother are both about 6'4", and the beds accommodated both of them just fine. There were two bathrooms, and it was nice stopping at a marina one night for a good hot shower. When you're in tight quarters, you want to like the people you're with. Rodrigo and Cez were tons of fun, and clearly good friends. They laughed easily, were interesting to talk with, and also allowed us time for reading, staring into the sea, and enjoying the gorgeous ocean views. We also were able to get off the boat a few times, whether that was for snorkeling, paddle boarding, or dinner at the marina one night. However, there was always enough space for us all to chill out and have our own space.Thank you both for such an unforgettable adventure — and for sailing us all through the night into 2024!!
